Personal Invitation      
 

I would like to offer my services as a tutor. I have an MA in both Spanish and French and am currently certified (GA) in both languages.

As a teacher, I have been sensitive to student needs and enthusiastic about my subject area. 

I have been active in and outside the classroom. 

My resume shows that I have had highly performing classes, won prizes for pedagogical innovation and have assumed responsibility…in Canada, on the national level,  promoting quality language instruction.  I am an author of foreign language texts and several filmstrips on a variety of subjects pertinent to modern language learning .

My wife, a French native,  has been employed by Air France and American Express.  Her work enabled us to travel extensively in French and Spanish-speaking areas including Peru, Mexico, Europe and both West and North African countries.  I taught French and Spanish for fifteen years in the Quebec City, Canada.  This was an incredible experience.

Our family members all use foreign language in their work and French is spoken at home on a daily basis.  My daughter won Governor’s Honors (Spanish) here in Georgia and my son studied in Madrid as a college freshman, sophomore and later in Montreal.  This reflects our interest in language and cultural diversity.  They both speak four languages.

Most recently I have taught Spanish and ESOL.  Cobb County awarded me summer study in Cuernavaca, Mexico.  This cultural experience helped me set up a student support system to encourage parents to read daily with their children.  The purpose was to increase vocabulary and instill positive attitudes toward school and reading in particular.
