“As the traveler who has once been from home is wiser than he who has never left
his own doorstep, so a knowledge of one other culture should sharpen our ability to scrutinize more steadily, to appreciate more lovingly, our own.”

Margaret Mead, anthropologist

“The mere pleasure of travel in an unexplored country is very great… the effect of travel on a man is that the mind is made more self-reliant; more confident of its resources.”

David Livingstone, English author

“The proper function of man is to live, not exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”

Jack London, American author and adventurer
